On 27 July 2025, Paya Lebar Chinese Methodist Church joyfully celebrated the 33rd Anniversary of its Teochew Worship Service. With over 100 worshippers in attendance, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude, reverence, and a deep sense of spiritual heritage.
What makes this service so special? It is a worship service conducted entirely in the Teochew dialect — a rare treasure in today’s multilingual and fast-paced society. For many elderly believers, it is a comforting reminder of the language of their upbringing, through which they first heard and embraced the Gospel.
A Service Rooted in Heritage, Open to All Generations
While the majority of the congregation are older members from various churches across Singapore, it is heartening to see younger individuals stepping up to serve, bridging generations and strengthening this meaningful tradition.
The service reflects not only the richness of our Teochew culture, but also the unchanging faithfulness of God across generations.
